As
the event is very early on Friday morning (for the purposes
of national TV coverage) most guests will need to arrive
on site on Thursday 12th prior to 6:00pm (sundown).
Shared
accommodation has been booked at Dunmarra. The rooms have
a double and two single beds - if you are on your own please
let me know if you have preferences who you share a room
with** - you must pay for the rooms prior to leaving on
the Friday - it may be best to pay on arrival as you will
only be in the rooms for a few hours.
All
of those wishing to attend are required to register with
Libby Beath* at AARC to ensure accommodation is secured.
For
security and safety reasons all media travelling to the
site for the dinner or the event will need to register at
Dunmarra and a bus will be provided to take them to the
ADrail camp site. You will receive an ID tag and a brief
induction to the camp on your arrival.
Please
keep the ID with you at all times as no access to the site
will be permitted without the tag.
Most of the media are travelling to Daly Waters by air charter
(see list attached) - if you receive this programme and
are unsure how you will get to the site please contact Libby
Beath as there a cars travelling to the site on Thursday
12th and returning Friday 13th.
On
the evening of the 12th a dinner is being held at the ADrail
camp. All media is invited to attend the dinner, a bus will
leave Dunmarra at approximately 5:30pm to take all of those
wishing to attend to the site by 6:30pm. You may bring cameras,
etc. but it is asked that you do not impose on the proceedings
or carry out interviews without speaking to Libby Beath
first. It is estimated that there will be 150 attendees
at the dinner.
The
dinner will be held under a marquee adjacent to the mess
area.
ADrail,
Freightlink and AARC will speak at this dinner.
The
following morning breakfast will be served from 5:30am at
the event site approximately 1km from the camp. The bus
will leave Dunmarra at 4:30am to take all media to the site
- please remember your ID TAG as there will be no access
to the site without the tag.
At
approximately 6:30am the formal proceedings will begin with
the Chief Minister, Senator Scullion, the Acting Premier
and Franco Moretti from Freightlink all giving a brief speech.
7:05am approximately - live cross to the Today Show to witness
the Chief Minister and Premier assist in igniting the last
thermit weld.
- Please
note that you can get vision of tracklaying, bridge construction,
earthworks etc from Libby Beath prior to the event.
- The
focus of this event is to get the event on the Today Show
- I ask that you do not intrude on those who are making
this happen - please be assured you will not miss out.
- If
you would like to interview anyone in particular prior
to or after the event please let Libby Beath know and
all will be done to assist you. If you have a specific
angle or interest, contact us prior to ensure that we
can try to arrange for that request to be met.
7:10am
to 8:00am all media will have an opportunity to interview
those chosen to speak.
All
formalities will be complete and transport back to Dunmarra
will begin from 8:30am.
