Winners of a 1982 NT Government Show Circuit competition who received certificates entitling them to two complimentary tickets on the inaugural train service, were awarded their tickets for the inaugural passenger service to Darwin in February 2004.

The former Department of Transport and Works conducted a lucky door prize of two tickets on the inaugural train service to Darwin. Winners were Alice Springs resident Michael Henshall and Victorian resident Anne Wiechel.

Mr Henshall was presented with his tickets by NT Chief Minister, Clare Martin in Alice Springs today and Ms Wiechel's tickets will be forwarded to her. "It's pleasing that Government - thanks to the support of Great Southern Railway - has been able to honour these prizes" Ms Martin said.

Great Southern Railway have allocated two Red Kangaroo Service Day-Nighter seats on the Inaugural journey for each of the winners, each worth $2500.
